Rock On My Ladies

I have always been a performer, dancer, singer, and anything to get a laugh. I love the thrill of being on stage and becoming a different character through hair, make up and song.  I also may have given up my silly dream of making it big on Broadway for other pursuits BUT my love for this lives on in these four important women. They all command the stage, gain the respect, create the work, and all with their own theatrical style.

Goldfrapp AKA
Alison Goldfrapp

My beautiful blonde! I will not apologize, women with Goldilocks are by far my FAVE. Pair that with amazing talent and a flair for mixing a traditional stage presence and electronic sounds and you had me at "ooh la la".  Alison rarely strays from her iconic curls. If it's not baroque, don't fix it!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs AKA
Karen O

Oooooh! My Karen O!
She's the girl after your indie rock, art-dance-post punk revivals heart!
This woman pulls off one of the most truly feared hairstyles of all time. The Classic Graduation! Woohoo! Always styled black and sleek, "Heads will Roll" around to check her out again and again.

Florence and the Machine AKA
 Florence Welch
Such a soulful redheaded Brit, she is fearless! She is never shy to belt out her songs on grand stages around the world and on T.V. Her two favorite lipsticks from MAC happen to be MY signature colors! (Ruby Woo & Lady Danger).  Her look is so effortless, beautiful rich color and textured waves I'm in "Cosmic Love" with her!

Marina and the Diamonds AKA
Marina Lambrini Diamandis
Miss Diamandis may be the youngest of the group, but she can certainly hold her own. This Welsh/Greek goddess is making music, her videos, and styling super fun again. On style, her Ombre look is all the rage along with her debut pop, new wave album. I look forward to her sophomore effort because I've got "Obsessions" about her!

I somehow feel connected to these women. Maybe they each represent little pieces of myself, how I would love to do what they do. Oh yeah, that and I've had my hair at some point in my life, exactly like each of them! HAHAHA :)
I said it before I'll say it again, ROCK On My Ladies!

Boys, Boys, all types of Boys...

...Black, White, Puerto Rican, Chinese Boys!

I've been totally boy crazy lately. I don't even know why because it's totally not like me to be! On the positive hair side of life, this recent revelation has reminded me of all the glorious ways the men in your life, or you, being the man, can express and impress.

No matter your lifestyle, work style, play style, or wish style, there are so many styles for you to try...

Boy Number One: Pharrell Williams

Hello! Can I get a whats up Mr. Pharrell? Let me tell you why I love you...

One half of the Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B production duo, The Neptunes, and lead singer rapper of N.E.RD., this man is always on the fore front of the fashion and music world. These two things being closely tied into hair, he is always clean, classic, and surprisingly daring. His friend and professional partner in musical crime, Chad Hugo, is not one to be left in the dust either....

Boy Number Two: Zac Efron

I know, I know, I know..... Zac?! But Absolutely! This boy has everything working in his favor... on top of his head that is. He pioneered the "Justin Bieber" before that little guy was born. AND he did it ten times better. Now growing into the very nice man that he is, he is looking less like a teenager and going for and older masculine look. Besides, who doesn't love a man who can sing and dance?

Boy Number Three: Jay Chou

New to me within the last year, this boy is a jack of all trades from Taiwan. A singer-songwriter, actor, and producer, he has won the World Music Award four times! Wow! I didn't even know there was a World Music Award. See how we can always step outside of our box? :) That's what I really like about what he does with his hair. Always stepping outside of his box, trying more extreme cuts and even COLOR.

If you have coarser hair texture like Jay, here are some other looks to try as well...

Boy Number Four: Diego Luna

This boy has been on my radar after two very different movies. First, Y Tu Mamá También. A road trip coming of age story that is not for the faint of heart. Second, Dirty Dancing Havana Nights. Insert laugh here. But, Whatever I love dancing movies! Diego is usually on the longer side of the men's hair spectrum. When he is short, it's shaggy and textured. When he is long, he is LONG! He tends to have a Johnny Depp vibe about him. Seems anything works on him. His hair texture is fine to medium, but he has a lot of it! If you have his hair type why not try some of the looks he has?

Boy Number Five: David Beckham

For most hair changes in the least amount of time, the award goes to him! Beckham is constantly altering his look. Shaved, "soccer cut", textured crop, long, classic. His hairstylist, Adee Phelan, surely keeps David a cut above the rest! Pun intended.

So many Boys so little time....
.....Umm Boys haircuts. :) To all my Boys out there, experiment! There's something for everybody! To my ladies, hope you enjoyed the show and you're welcome.

Under the Sea!

Last Saturday some lovely friends and I went to Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, and after had a late lunch on the beach. I love any reason to go to San Francisco! While being completely amazed with the variety of unique plants, animals, and terrain our Earth has to offer, the trip ultimately reminded me of some of my favorite classic hair care products as well as a brand new one that I use pretty much every single day.

While touring around the aquarium, and watching how the ocean flows, I thought about Seaweed Shampoo and Conditioner from Bumble and Bumble. OH MY GAWWW! It smells so good and refreshing. If you wash your hair more than a few times per week, its great to use. There are marine extracts that feed our roots, add shine to our hair and keep our scalps happy!

While playing around with a fish, making kissy faces at him, I noticed he started to mirror my facial expressions! Not to be outdone by a fish, I quickly stretched my mouth as wide as possible – well, he was not shy…..
His cute little puffed up fins reminded me of two things. First, Texture -- Bumble’s brand new product! It gives you that sexy undone big hair look with just the right amount of grit. Second, good ol’ sumo wax! Great for piecing out the ends of hair to create a dramatic look, or to define curls on longer hair.

The Many Styles O Mindi

I've always been the girl with the ever changing hair, and the girl with maybe way too many products. When you've been obsessed with your hair for as long as I have, and tried every kind of style, you can start to lose inspiration on what to try next. So Ive decided to keep my love for hair alive by this bloggy! Each week I'll re inspire myself and I hope to help inspire you too!
I love my friends and I live to travel. So more often than not, you'll most definitely meet many of them right here, and see the places Ive gone to and will go to next. :)
For my inaugural post, I thought I'd catch you up on what Ive been doing to myself for the last few years...

Hair long, blonde, and flowin! With my bestie Meca, this woman is so talented. She keeps me going.

Hack it off! I love the short looks...

Lets grow it out and have a retro day while we're at it! Jeanna, Sara, Meca and I looking glam in midtown.

Probably my most favorite Hair cut ever!!! Female Stylist Joe from London got me ready for my first trip to Paris with lovely Missa.

I thought to myself, "Do blondes really have more fun?" I had to find out... I think Nick approved.
'Twas time to chop that off again! Derek knows what's up.

My time as Karen O. I really wish I had more pictures of this phase. Good times with the Shelley Bell.

Alrighty, Let's start to fast forward a bit....
Lovelies Meca, Lynette and Jeanna.

I am so excited about this idea... please stay tuned...
